Parma Ham Festival, taste and culture

Parma Ham Festival,  which opened on September 5, will continues until 20 September An event with taste and culture that has for many years been enlivening the streets and squares of the Parma area to celebrate Parma Ham, a wholesome and natural product that combines high nutritional value with its unmistakeable sweetness. There is no better occasion than the Festival to taste the King of Hams in its thousand facets, in different versions and preparations, and to become more closely acquainted with the territory in which it originated and to which it is closely linked.

A full calendar will involve the public over these 15 days. This year too there will be Finestre Aperte, (open “doors”) the heart of the event, which is always enormously successful and draws Parma Ham enthusiasts into the cured ham factories where they will be able to see the production process and take part in free tastings.  As usual, there will also be the Parma Ham Bistro under the Portici del Grano, in Parma. Here, every day, it will be possible to taste Parma Ham and enjoy the centre’s attractions from a privileged and picturesque position.

There will be no shortage of initiatives organized by individual municipalities. A variegated programme that will range from tastings to cultural events, from music shows to nature tours and lots more!

But that’s not all. This year, the Parma Ham Festival will also host some foreign “colleagues”. Langhirano will in fact welcome some Hams from abroad as well as from other parts of Italy. They will be the protagonists of some initiatives and demonstrations connected with promotion and tasting. For the occasion, some Chefs will prepare their dishes to be tasted in ham shops.

The Parma Ham Festival has a decidedly full programme on the dedicated site www.festivaldelprosciuttodiparma.com
